6-year-old girl drowns at Margaritaville on Lake Conroe
Authorities are investigating a young girl’s drowning Friday afternoon at the Margaritaville Lake Conroe Resort.
Just after 3:30 p.m., the Conroe Police and Montgomery Fire departments responded to a 911 call about a 6-year-old female being unresponsive at the resort’s swimming pool. Life-saving measures were immediately started by family and others. EMS arrived shortly after and took the girl to the Texas Children’s Hospital in The Woodlands, according to Conroe PD.
Upon arrival, the girl was pronounced dead at 5 p.m., according to Conroe PD.
The girl’s family was visiting the resort from out of town while on vacation. The heated pool was open to guests, the department mentioned.
“The team at the Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe | Houston extends it deepest sympathy and prayers for peace and comfort for the family involved in today’s unfortunate tragedy,” read a Friday evening statement from the resort.
This is at least the second fatality at the resort this year. A 25-year-old electrical work contractor was electrocuted on site on July 15. The resort has been opened since June 2020.
